This is life

The joy of getting older, is getting wiser and for me that  means  knowing  oneself better  . I know what  makes me happy, what makes  me stressed  ( the phone for one thing - Tee hee) , what brings me peace, joy and energy . The thing is I  feel  I am  still not mature  enough to figure out how to quiet the voices in my head. The ones that  say you  " should" as in you "should" be doing this or  that  you "should" have  done  certain things  at this point  in your life , etc....  The endless lists I make for myself  that never get done . Well this past week I have  spent my time  doing just  what makes me happy.  These things are - Being kind to my husband , spending time with my pups , making art , sitting in the  sun , walks , hot baths , hot chocolate , warm  fires and reading. I have not been able to read in years. I just have not been able to quite my mind enough to comprehend what I am trying to  read .  This last week I read an  entire  book . I am truly  at  peace, just  for now. Just this  moment, that  is all one can  ask for, just  the   precious  present.   Here I am content   . Here in  Bisbee this  tiny little mountain town  nestled in a deep  canyon  . Merry Christmas  to all . Hugs Julie
A good book- Charming Billy ...
"The one that got away" made this week for  Kim's Husband ....
I also created  another "Heart in Home"  .....
and Peanut seems at peace too!!!

I know just what you mean! It's hard to find peace of mind and just be able to BE. I experienced that lately on the cruise we were on - I read FOUR books! I've now decided to make reading a part of my daily life again... So glad you are having a wonderful time!! Love, Silke

I am envious of your time in "heaven" miss julie!
I have always heard that Bisbee is an extraordinary place.
Enjoy your time and your holidays.
Why can't every day be like this past week? That should be the goal for all of us in the new year.

Miss you.....think of you so often...

Julie, I love your "tude!" Those darn little voices do have tendency to be a bother sometimes, but I wonder if they'll ever stop yacking!! LOL Anyway, sounds like you're doing a good job about hushing them for a bit and just stopping and listening to your heart...your art really reflects that.

Have a great time in AZ and love lots, laugh lots, and eat lots!! Have a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful work throughout 2011!

Seems as if that charming little town is doing wonders for your creative soul! Love the pics you're sharing.

p.s. I am no where near shy but can appreciate those who are. One of my very best friends loves to tell the story of how we met. She said she never would have spoken to me due to her shyness but is thankful every day for my big mouth as I did not stop talking to her!!

I find it interesting that you couldn't read. I stopped reading for about 7 years after Ry died, and only started again in the past couple of years. Same with my mom. I recently read Elizabeth Edward's book and several others, it felt good to be able to.
I am so happy that you are enjoying this time on vacation. You are reconnecting with your spirit.

Thank you so much for the well wishes for Lennon. He's not seeming lethargic and in dire straights anymore. Still no where near himself, but I am feeling much better about his recovery. I truly appreciate the caring thoughts and prayers that have gone out and hope they carry him to a quick and full recovery. He is a very sick kitty boy and I miss his healthy, happy (even the naughty) kitten behavior.

Oh Julie..why is it it once we do something for ourselves,we say, what didnt I do that sooner!!Then something comes along and distracts us from being good to ourselves...and we forget..not on purpose, but simply because time runs away from us and at the end of the day, there is no time left for us.Well,Im happy to see you enjoying yourself..keep going..enjoy a little bit more everyday. My word for 2011 is "Enjoy".Whats yours?
