Scooter

My blog list came back!!! But thanks everyone for the comments !!Now I get to spend some time visiting and seeing what everyone is doing to get ready for Christmas. Oh, I also have a question.I still am taking care of Scooter for Mom and he seems to have kennel cough. We took him to the vet and they put him on antibiotics . But two weeks later  and he still has this constant little cough. Does anyone know if this is normal ,does it take some time for the cough to go away ? He only coughs when he lays down and it is this constant kind of hiccup sound. I only know it is a cough because he then needs to cough up phlegm every once in a while? I just thought I would see if anyone has experienced this  with a dog with kennel cough. It seems to be common with rescue dogs. thanks fo any help

Hi, our dogs get a cough that the vet says is not kennel cough and to give them a little bit of cough medicine if they get distressed.

they seem to be fine at the moment, so it might be seasonal thing.... hth jenxo

Hi Julie,

Could Scooter have ingested something,
that is stuck or scratched his throat?
I would take him back to the vet.
Hope he heals quickly:)

Hugs,
Mary

Poor little guy! Haven't had any experience with kennel cough, but could it be seasonal allergies? My Tootsie has a terrible time in the spring. Just a thought, but worth suggesting to the vet. Hope he feels better soon. He's soooo lucky to have TWO great Mommies!!!! Hugs, Terri xoxox

Hi Julie and Scooter,
If Scooter is still on antibiotics...complete the course and see if the cough goes away. If he has completed his antibiotics and he is still coughing take him back to the vet and they will futher his tx. Sometimes kennel cough can develope into pnumonia...which is also treated with antibiotics. Your vet will do the further testing that is needed. (Like human coughs though...kennel cough can take awhile to clear up)

Patti

Julie,
So sorry little Scooter can't seem to shake the cough. I think my Hubby may have the same thing!! He's been coughing for 3 weeks now...not that it is driving me crazy or anything!!! Maybe they both just need a good shot of strong whiskey. Hope he gets better soon. I've heard that lots of loves help.
Your new dog sculpture is darling.
XO Nancy

Love you new piece!!

Good luck with Scooter. I hope it is something simple for you all.

My adopted, Gator, gets a cough in the winter too. The air gets drier and ragweed replaces the humidity:) My poor "puppy" (haha- he weighs 90 lbs) has allergies and becomes my sofa dog or hallway throw rug during the winter.
